Team j-Dai

Team j-Dai was formed at the last possible moment in October 2001, and had luck to find a good advisor - Mr. Masahiro Mizuta for that year's contest.

May be the most difficult problem was choosing a reasonable name... Lacking the imagination to think of a name on our own, we wrote a special Perl script to do the job. When a 10MB dictionary file was parsed in several minutes, we were left with only 134 good choices. "j-Dai" won somehow. It can be interpreted as jAPAN-DaiGAKU (Japanese Universities) or can even be read as "jedi" from Star Wars.

The Team

Team members - Kalin, Georgi, Koine - are all students from Information Engineering major, Hokkaido University.

Kalin is crazy about alpine and ice climbing and all kinds of (old=free) hardware. Web designer in his free time.
"Give me a wire and I will build you a network! No wire? No problem - going wireless..."

Georgi is always pushing the limits of any machine and OS by "trial-and-error" programming, loves Linux.
"I just need to debug this..."

Koine loves hardware and is fan of good old DOS and C programming.
"You say you don't have a driver for this one? Let me write one for you..."

The Coaches

2001 - Mr. Mizuta always wants his students to understand what he is teaching them. Always provokes feedback and dialogue with the students.

2002 - Rzepka Rafal is from Poland and at present is a graduate student at Hokkaido University, Faculty of Engineering, Signal Processing Laboraqtory.

Team j-Dai passed the Domestic Qualifying Round 2002 with two solved problems.

In 2001 contest, again non-Japanese team won the Asia Regional Contest, so team j-Dai reserves the right to be the first Japanese team on the world finals in 2002 :-) See ya there!.
